UK Kenya Achievers Awards Does Jamhuri with Style

On Saturday 14th December at Bloomsbury Holiday Inn London2gether Hosted the 5th Annual UK Kenya Achievers Awards. The night was attended by high profile Dignitaries and 12 Kenyans from across the world, including our very own Co-founder Stessy Nyaga, received Awards for their Input into the development of Kenya Both in UK and Kenya. 

The Night was orchestrated excellently by the elegant TV presenter Miss Pauline Long who led the Jamhuri Day and Award Night celebrations. Richard Blackwood entertained the crowd with a hilarious comedy presentation and left the crowd with the message that we must be interested in our children.

The night was made extra special due to our very own Miss Stessy Nyaga (click name to view bio) Receiving The Young Star of the Year Award for her advancements in the development of Forensic Science in Kenya, being the founder Of Unique Solutions Services Ke and her work with the Kenyan youth through her direct contribution to orphanges and schools in Nairobi Slums Kibera, Mathare and Shauri Moyo and her intimate contact with Diaspora youth UK through co-founding the organisation Diaspora Youth Empowerment  and sustaining the development of a diverse and positively engaged generation. Stessy Nyaga and Diaspora Youth Empowerment would Like to say thank you to everyone who voted for us and has supported us throughtout this process. “to be served you must serve” words from our president who spoke passionately about the limitless possibilities and diverse skills we have hidden within our youth.

Other Award Winners included: Premier League footballer Victor Wanyama for sports personality of the year; Evelyn Mukanda founder of Evestar Football Club for business personality of the year; Joe Ngugi is a journalist who fought for civil and human rights in Kenya since 1988 for Journalist of the year, John Wainaina founder of Youth League UK for Unsung Hero Award; Abdul Mohamed was announced as the new Mayor of Southwark council Assembly; and UN CHIEF COMMANDER FOR ROYAL SIGNAL Captain Priston Osabwa under British Army Who received the Golden Jubilee Award. The organisation was also Nominated For a community Champion Award which we are confident we will take home next year but are still pleased to see the youth take the prize! Congratulations.

The theme of the Evening was definitely the youth and women and the importance of investing in Future Generations. Award Winner Pastor Jane Kigaru expressed the importance of giving the youth a platform and the need to empower them to carry the torch and keep the fire burnng. “lets talk early, we have great things ahead, We have five great pillars (decades). There is a platform to deliver.” said by Pastor Jane Kigaru Of Kenya community Rebuild. Pauline Long expressed the obligation we have to contribute to the development of our country. “As a community what role are we playing?” 

Counselor Of Education Hon. Margaret Lessuda, Said that Kenya is not just on the Move “WE ARE ON THE RUN” Kenyans everywhere are motivated that after seeing the possibilities of 50 years independence we shall fly as nation. The Hon Wilson sossion said it well when he said be an ambassador of humanity not only of Kenya. That is exactly what all these award winners have demonstrated in their lives.

The Honorable Zipporah Kuragat Women Representative of Nandi and member of parliament said we must come together and appreciate others. She was eager to involve the Kenyan government into more events and eager to see more women getting involved in politics and governance, being only one of few female members of parliament Hon. Zipporah showed elegance and zeal for the Diaspora, youth and  Women.
